All That Pilot (1994)
Once considered the "Holy Grail" of '90s Nickelodeon content, this particular episode of the soon-to-be popular TV sketch series, All That, only aired a select few times as a "sneak peek" to what was to come with the series. This particular episode aired on April 16th 1994, and would go on to be lost for decades to come. Now, All That episodes aren't the easiest to locate in the first place, especially with Viacom's overly strict copyright system in place, and the pilot episode for All That is no exception. However, during recent years, three clips of the pilot surfaced. The "Cool Shoes" cold open sketch, the intro which was vastly different from the memorable intro we all know today, and the musical number performed by TLC.
I actually remember when the original uploader for the "Cool Shoes" cold open replied to a comment asking if they had the full episode. The original upload has been taken down unfortunately, and I don't have a screenshot of the comment, but the uploader said that they got it from a friend, a fellow YouTuber who constantly bragged about having the full pilot and yet, refused to release it. What a scummy thing to do, like all those jerks who find rare prototypes of NES or SNES games, and yet refuse to release the ROM file for it because it will "degrade the value." Anyhow, the full pilot was still lost for the time being, but at least we had a few select clips from the pilot to tide us over. That is, until September 23rd 2014, when someone anonymously posted the full episode to a private tracker... only to be taken down immediately after. However, I suppose a lot of people were quick to download the episode before it got taken down, because the next day, YouTuber Greenrift uploaded the episode to YouTube... only to be taken down by Viacom again. Hope was not lost though, because fans continued to upload the full episode to YouTube (mirrored), along with uploading it to other sites as well (unmirrored) AND creating a download link which you can go to by clicking here. (Download link provided by Lost Media Wiki user Nihatemoon.)
Here is the original upload to YouTube which has been taken down by Viacom, unfortunately... thanks, Viacom. If you're not planning to officially release the episode to the public, why take down the episode? You're not gaining any profits from it clearly, so what's the point? Is a high quality copy of the pilot really in your copyright bot, that you refuse to release?
Something tells me it won't be long before Viacom takes down the episode from the download link, so be sure to download it while you can before it becomes a lost relic once again!
